COVID, stress and your skin

  • Anat Edwy

Have you noticed that your skin tends to break out when stressed?

It happens to many people even if they never really had skin problems.

The reason is that the mind and the skin are connected.

When you're tense, your body releases stress hormones that change your skin's equilibrium, and you can find yourself with acne, eczema, hives, rosacea, psoriasis, etc.

COVID has taken its toll on many aspects of our lives, and many people complain that their skin has been behaving uncharacteristically since the lockdown.

The stress of the pandemic, accompanied by too much "comfort food", reduction of physical activity and less exposure to the sun, promotes stress and skin break-outs.

So, let's DIY some natural skin-soothing and healing concoctions, starting from the humble Apple Cider Vinegar.

ACV is rich in Acetic Acid. Research has shown this acid has anti-fungal and antimicrobial properties. When used topically, it clears bacteria related to either infections or skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, and eczema. Turmeric Essential Oil is a fantastic anti-inflammatory product that helps calm aggravated skin conditions, including eczema, acne and psoriasis. In addition, it has a place in anti-aging and brightening skincare due to its protective antioxidant properties.

How to:

Mix 1 TBSP of Apple Cider Vinegar, 1 TBSP of filtered water and a few drops of Turmeric Essential Oil. Take a cotton ball, dip it into the mixture, squeeze out the excess liquid, and apply it to your face.
