WHAT IS A SALT DIFFUSER, AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
A salt diffuser is a vessel that carries salt and Essential oils. Salt diffusing is a traditional way of diffusing and the healthiest of all. When placing salt and essential oils in the diffuser, the salt carries the essential oil particles so that you can enjoy their benefits without the need for electricity or a lit candle.
Salt diffusers only introduce salt micro-particles, negatively charged ions and essential oils into your house. In places where there's a lot of moisture in the air, It's better to diffuse with salt to cleanse the air rather than introduce more moisture into your house when using modern diffusers that use water to diffuse the essential oils.
WHY DO YOU COMBINE SALT AND ESSENTIAL OILS IN THE DIFFUSER?
Salt diffusing combines the benefits of Halotherapy (Salt Therapy) and Aromatherapy (Essential oils Therapy). Salt Therapy is based on the idea that the negatively charged ions in salt improve our health and mood. Inhaling salt micro-particles may reduce inflammation and mucus in the lungs, absorb and remove allergens and toxins throughout our respiratory tract, making it easier to breathe while creating a relaxed feeling. We're using the best salt in our opinion- raw harvested untreated Dead Sea Salt. The unique composition of the Dead Sea water makes its salt more potent; the Dead Sea lies 365.76 meters below sea level, and over millions of years, the hot, dry air and high evaporation rates have contributed to the high salt concentration present in the Dead Sea, making it one of the saltiest seas in the world. Compared to the 3% salt content of ordinary seawater, the Dead Sea water contains 32% salts with a high concentration of twenty-one minerals such as magnesium, calcium, bromide and potassium. Twelve of these minerals aren't found in any other sea or ocean in the world.
Aromatherapy (Essential oils Therapy) works by stimulating smell receptors in the nose, sending messages through the nervous system to the limbic system — the part of the brain that controls emotions. The limbic system is connected directly to those parts of the brain that control heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, stress levels, and hormone balance.

ARE SALT DIFFUSERS BETTER THAN MODERN DIFFUSERS?
Modern diffusers are Active Diffusers. They very quick in releasing the Essential oils into the air in a very invasive way. The Aroma they produce overtakes the whole space and might be endangering the health of sick people, babies, young children and animals, and offending people with a sensitive nose.
Salt diffusers are Passive Diffusers. They slowly release the Essential oils into the air and are not too overpowering. The slow-release means that you don't need to add more essential oils several times a day. It's recommended to add more essential oils to the salt only when the aroma has vanished.
Most modern diffusers are made of plastic, and because Essential oils are potent, they known to cause corrosion in plastic over time. As a result, harmful plastic particles may be released into the air while diffusing.

WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT DRIFTWOOD SALT DIFFUSERS?
Driftwood is a natural, timeless and sustainable material that is perfect for new creations. It is naturally shaped by the elements and left onshore, providing a blank canvas for creation. You need an artist's eye to discover the potential in every piece of driftwood. We use salt seasoned driftwood that we gather on the shores of the majestic West Coast of the South Island.
The process of creating a driftwood diffuser is slow. First, we need to hand-pick the right pieces and air dry them. Then starts the thrilling part of revealing the hidden shapes of every piece. This is not a quick process, as all work is done by hand. Finally, when the diffusers are shaped, they are coated with several coats of wax and linseed oil or a special resin.
