What is a salt diffuser?

A salt diffuser is a vessel that carries Salt and essential oils without water, candle or electricity.
Our salt diffusers are unique, one-of-a-kind driftwood diffusers that are natural, sustainable, super safe and beautiful to display at your home or give to someone special.

How does Salt diffusing work?

Salt diffusing combines the benefits of Halotherapy (Salt Therapy) and Aromatherapy (Essential Oils). When placing Salt in the diffuser, the Salt carries the essential oil particles, and the constituents in the Salt cleanse the air from moisture and pollutants while enhancing the aroma of the essential oils.

The essential oils in our salt diffuser are released slowly and are not too overpowering. The slow release means you don't need to add more essential oils several times a day. Instead, adding more essential oils to the Salt is recommended only when the aroma has vanished.

How does Aromatherapy work?

Aromatherapy stimulates smell receptors in the nose, sending messages through the nervous system to the limbic system, the part of the brain that controls emotions. The limbic system is connected directly to those parts of the brain that control heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, stress levels, and hormone balance.

What is Salt Therapy (Halotherapy)?

Salt Therapy is based on the idea that the negatively charged ions in Salt improve our health and mood. Inhaling salt micro-particles may reduce inflammation and mucus in the lungs and absorb and remove allergens and toxins throughout our respiratory tract, making breathing easier while creating a relaxed feeling. We're using the best Salt, raw harvested untreated Dead Sea Salt.

Why do you recommend Dead Sea Salt to be used in the diffuser?

The unique composition of the Dead Sea water makes its Salt more potent than other natural salts.
The Dead Sea lies 365.76 meters below sea level, and over millions of years, the hot, dry air and high evaporation rates have contributed to the high salt concentration present in the Dead Sea, making it one of the saltiest seas in the world. Compared to the 3% salt content of ordinary seawater, the Dead Sea water contains 32% salts with a high concentration of twenty-one minerals such as magnesium, calcium, bromide and potassium. Twelve of these minerals aren't found in any other sea or ocean worldwide.

Is Salt diffusing healthy?

Salt diffusing is healthy; it only introduces salt micro-particles, negatively charged ions and essential oils into your house. Also, in places with a lot of moisture in the air, It's healthier to diffuse with Salt that cleanses the air rather than with water, as water diffusing introduces more moisture into your house.

Are salt diffusers safe?

Yes. Unlike diffusers that require water, electricity or a lit candle, our salt diffusers don't create a fire hazard and won't introduce access humidity to your house. You can diffuse different essential oils in various corners of your home, office, or anywhere you desire, according to your needs. In addition, the diffusers can be safely placed away from curious kids and pets.

Is it safe to sleep next to a diffuser?

It is perfectly safe to sleep next to a salt diffuser. Inhaling salt micro-particles mixed with a relaxing blend of essential oils while you sleep may reduce inflammation and mucus in your lungs and absorb and remove allergens and toxins from your respiratory tract, making breathing easier while creating a relaxed feeling.

Is it safe to breathe diffused essential oils?

Breathing diffused essential oils is safe if you only use pure, certified organic essential oils that are allowed for diffusing. Always check the source of your essential oils and ensure they are natural essential oils and not lab-made scents that are not considered safe for breathing.

How often should you change the Salt in a salt diffuser?

Change the Salt when it changes its colour (about once a month). Add more essential oils when the scent fades.

Why did you choose driftwood to create salt diffusers?

Driftwood is a natural, timeless and sustainable material perfect for new creations. It is naturally shaped by the elements and left onshore, providing a blank canvas for design.

We use salt-seasoned driftwood that we gather on the shores of the majestic West Coast of the South Island.

The process of creating a driftwood diffuser is slow. First, we need to hand-pick the right pieces and air-dry them. Then starts the thrilling part of revealing the hidden shapes of every piece. It is a process that takes time, as all work is done by hand. Finally, when the diffusers are shaped, they are coated with several coats of wax, linseed oil, or a special resin.

So if you're looking for a one-of-a-kind salt diffuser that does everything that a regular diffuser does but is so much more,

Our unique and sustainable Driftwood Salt Diffusers are the answer for you.
